many who are Christians treat this life as if it's just an unimportant stop on their journey to "heaven". but Jesus came announcing "the kingdom of heaven is at hand" and he gave his followers a mission to advance the kingdom of God HERE ON EARTH.
this life is not just a place for us to "get saved" and then sit around and wait until we die and go to heaven. God is in the business of redeeming this earth here and now... that "[his] kingdom would come and [his] will would be done HERE ON EARTH as it is in heaven."
we are called as his followers to be agents of redemption.
Jesus commissioned his disciples saying, "go into all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."
how are you fulfilling your mission today?

i was praying last week and this phrase, "living on purpose" kept running through my head. i didn't think much of it at first, but as i thought about it more, the two-fold meaning of that phrase really struck me. in one sense, we can understand purpose in terms of what we were meant to do and so we continually try to find meaning in life in things like our careers, making money, being a parent, developing meaningful relationships, etc. but doing something "on purpose" also speaks of doing whatever we do with intentionality.
so it struck me, that perhaps this idea of "living on purpose" is not just about finding meaning in life through the things we do... and it's not just about doing whatever we do with intentionality. but perhaps it is about understanding who God has created us to be and the purpose that he has for our lives and then living very intentionally to fulfill that plan in everything we do.
just a thought...
today is easter sunday and this morning we had the awesome priviledge of singing our guts out to God because the tomb is empty, he is risen and as a result our lives will never be the same. easter is a day you just have to rock out! when you realize the gravity of the empty tomb and what it means for us, you can't help but celebrate!
this morning i came across this quote that reminded me of the significance of a rock and roll easter. "roll the rock and keep it rolling: a true witness of resurrection is an agent of resurrection." the rock was rolled away from the tomb! jesus is alive! as his followers our lives are forever changed! the resurrection lives on in us and that's reason to celebrate... not just today but every day!
have a rock and roll easter and keep the rock rolling every day of the year! be agents of the resurrection!
